Are you Afraid?

July 22, 2020

There are a lot of things going on in the world today, things we seemingly have no control over, and things that used to be seen as crazy are now being accepted as the norm. The policeman that was seen as a force for good is now the bad guy, and there is movement to take the police force's paycheck away. There are people that have tried to set up their own little utopias where basically anything goes. Socialism seems to be all the rage now where the government pays for everything and the very foundations of our government and history are the enemy now. What is going on?

As followers of Jesus Christ, should we be worried? Is God in control of this mess? Should we be worried? "This stuff is affecting me directly! I mean, I can't find toilet paper, I have to wear masks everywhere I go now, I have to maintain "social distancing, why is the Lord letting this stuff happen to me? Aren't I His child? Why me, Lord? Why me?"

Well, as a child of God you are privileged. The apostle John states in his Gospel, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of of God, to those who believe in His name." Did you read that? It says that you're A CHILD OF THE KING! It doesn't get any better than that! And what does a king do? He takes care of those under him. And what do you think he does for His children? He supplies their every need, because of His love for them! That's us! WE ARE HIS CHILDREN! So, do you think He doesn't know or care about the stuff that's happening to us? He knows, and He cares. The stuff that happens to us, He LETS happen to us. (Look at the book of Job). It's for our good, and ultimately for God's glory.

So, what do we do with this information? How can we use this? First of all, we are His children; we need to remember this. Stamp it on your hearts. Remember this every second of every day: HE IS IN CONTROL OF THE STUFF THAT HAPPENS IN YOUR LIFE! So if He is control, then everything that happens is by His will. That means that He means it for good for us. The apostle Paul told the Romans that he knows that "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, and to those who are called according to His purpose." So, He causes all the stuff in our lives to work together for good. Remember this, ponder this, memorize it. Everything that happens is for good! He makes it happen!

So, should we worry about the things that are happening today? Our instruction manual (the Bible) tells us not to be anxious (stop worrying; Worrying implies not trusting). Psalm 139 tells us that every day of our life has been ordained. So, everything that comes into your life has been ordained. By who? By God! So when the "ordained" stuff comes into our lives, what do we do with it, even if it's bad stuff? We trust in our Father, the King, the creator, the One who loved us enough to call us His Children. We trust that He will cause the "stuff" to work together for good to the ones love Him, to the ones who are called according to His purpose.

We keep on going, we keep trusting, we keep on loving the One who calls us His child. Hallelujah! And Amen!
